(113th day, 252 more days to go) Movie Review
I went to the premiere for the movie Jumping The Broom last night which was produced by Tracey Edmonds and Bishop T.D. Jakes. It was a very interesting red carpet because the entire carpet was white. The main event was when Bishop Jakes performed a wedding ceremony on the carpet for a couple who in the end actually jumped a broom.
First off, please don’t go see this movie with someone who you don’t plan on staying with or marrying in the future. It’s one of those movies that makes you question your current relationship status. I strongly advise you go by yourself or with some girlfriends so that you can have a better perspective. I left knowing that I had to continue my journey to finding The One by making better decisions and not settle like I did in the past.
The theme of the movie is not overly cheesy or dramatic like other movies I’ve seen. I loved the look of the movie because I haven’t seen anything like it since Brown Sugar or Best Man. For the most part, I was impressed with Mike Epps’ role. He didn’t get that much screen time but it was enough to convince me to take him more seriously as a contender to play Richard Pryor, if a biography is ever made.
The cast includes, Angela Bassett, Loretta Devine, Paula Patton, Laz Alonso, Tasha Smith, Romeo, and Mike Epps. In theaters Friday, May 6th.
